PEACE HUMANSRUS TRUST (PHT)
The Founder of the Trust, Jasper Power Company established it in 2014, in line with the requirements contained in the Request For Proposal (RFP) for satisfaction by the project company, is that it must comply with the economic development obligations which has, as one of its requirements, the obligation that local communities must also benefit from the IPP Procurement Programme.
OUR PURPOSE
Through the PHT, the project’s economic development obligations have ensured participation by local communities. Shares are held by the Trust, and Jasper will make contributions to the Trust for the benefit of local communities.
The main objectives of PHT are to ensure that any dividends received will be utilised to fund social upliftment projects which will empower the communities of Tsantsabane and Kgatelopele municipalities, as well as areas within a 50 km radius of the Jasper Power Project site.
The PHT is therefore a vehicle for delivering social investments that address the socio-economic challenges within the designated communities. These investments are informed by community research, as well as by the objectives outlined in the National Development Plan (NDP) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
